As an on-air personality for more than 15 years, I'm confident on-camera, but it's taken me years. The ability to not just speak, but speak well, and engage your audience is crucial in getting your message out about your platform or brand.

So I compiled a list of some pro tips that I've learned along the way. These are great because I've already made the mistakes, and learned the lesson so hopefully, you can avoid the mistake all together an be an on-camera.

Here's some of the top pro tips:

  1. Practice: The more you practice being on camera, the more comfortable you will feel. Record yourself and watch the footage to identify areas for improvement.

  2. Visualize: Visualize yourself performing well on camera. Take a few minutes before your shoot to close your eyes and visualize yourself being confident, calm, and relaxed.

  3. Focus on your message: Instead of worrying about your appearance or how you sound, focus on delivering your message. Be clear and concise in your communication.

  4. Dress comfortably: Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. Avoid clothes that are too tight, too loose, or that you're not used to wearing.

  5. Relax your body: Take a few deep breaths and try to relax your body. Stand tall, relax your shoulders, and keep your head up.

  6. Use positive self-talk: Use positive affirmations to build your confidence. Tell yourself that you are capable, confident, and prepared.

  7. Work with an on-camera coach: An on-camera coach can provide you with personalized feedback and help you develop the skills and strategies you need to be confident on camera.

By implementing these tips, you can build your confidence and become more comfortable in front of the camera, which will ultimately help you to present yourself more effectively on video or other visual media.
